‘Sono Hanabira ni Kuchizuke wo: Anata to Koibito Tsunagi’ is a hentai that is as grand as the length of its title. First of all, it is every vanilla enthusiast’s wet dream. This hentai is the very definition of vanilla. Secondly, it passes every moral test you can possibly throw at it. There’s no rape here, the two featured characters are in love and the sex scenes are about as normal and sweet as a vanilla flavoured cone in mid July.

The «story» is banal and the synopsis sums it up fairly well so instead I’ll focus on the sexual aspect of this magnificent triumph of

Right of the bat you’ll notice that the two Heroines (Reo and Mai) in this glorious piece of work are animated in the «Moe» style. Now, some might argue that it’s not the right stylistic choice for a Hentai flick because it makes it look like you’re watching the forbidden outtakes of Higurashi but they couldn’t be more wrong in this case. I’ll remind you — this OVA is extremely pure and innocent-like. The «moe» style compliments the overwhelmingly romantic and vanilla atmosphere and the end result is something that engages your heart more than your… uh, whatever it is you have down there.

In short, this Hentai is emotional porn number 1. It doesn’t fuck around either. It fucks where it matters and by that I mean that most of this 1 episode OVA is just that — 2 heroines going Genghis Khan on each other’s private parts while repeating the phrase «I love you» so many times it could turn a puppy into a quivering pile of pure glucose.

The quality of animation in this one is extremely good. The colours are crisp, the breast physics could make Tomonobu Itagaki proud and the moan acting is certainly noteworthy. I really did not see a single problem in the art & sound department.

The only negative aspect of this hentai would be the lack of a real story and that’s pretty much why I didn’t give it a 10 straight away.

All in all I enjoyed this. It’s morally flawless, mostly sex scenes and the design is extremely fitting to this type of porn. I know what I’m about to say next might be a bold claim but I also believe that this might be the best Yuri hentai out there. Certainly better than ‘Shoujo Sect’ and that was already damn near-flawless.

Watching something as sweet and heart-warming as this is guaranteed to boost your self-confidence, lower your cholesterol and promote cell growth and regeneration.

Enjoy!

Story- Average
It’s not very deep or interesting, but if you’re out to see cute girls doing lewd things together then the story gets that done just fine.

Art- Above Average
I don’t think I’ve seen any hentai with character designs of this quality! It’s not a unique art style but it is very charming.

Sound- Above Average
Voices and sounds are very fitting and cute.

Characters- Average

Enjoyment- Above Average
If you are ever in the mood to watch yuri, this is my top pick!

Just got done watching the first episode a few hours ago, and I have to say, it was better then I thought it was going to be.

First off, this is based of the visual novel Sono Hanabira ni Kuchizuke wo ~Atashi to Koibito Tsunagi~ (Title is very obvious) which is the third visual novel of the series. You may be confused on who the characters are and how they met.

Story: If you haven’t played the game, the story line may be a little confusing, Hell its confusing to me, but after the flashback, things started to make sense. Two girls like each other and will

Art: Watching the OVA, I’ve noticed a few scenes look a lot like the CG from the visual novel. In the OVA, the artwork is softer then the CG, but is beautifully drawn to give it it’s adorableness.

Sound: I’d imagine the characters voices are not the same, most Hentai Visuals to Hentai OVAs tend to have different voice actors. (Confirmed, they are different from the Visual Novel) The acting is done wonderfully.

Character: I know nothing about there personality from the Visual novel, but have been told they are quite similar. Both Characters love each other very much and will stay by each others side. One is shy and the other is a little pushy. If one is sick, the other is willing to nurse her back to health (Even if it means getting a little sexual).

Enjoyment: Originally, I was in it for the Hentai scenes, but after a while, I was in it for the… what’s the right words… It’s cuteness. Soon I was going «Awww, that’s so adorable.» I loved it. Side note, the Hentai scenes weren’t bad at all, but they are censored (Some of you reading this just went, «Damn it!»).

Overall: All and all, I thought the episode was cute. This is one of those Hentai series I would get for the story line and not just for the H scenes. Hell, playing the first visual novel, I knew this had to be adorable. I’d recommend this to anyone who is looking for «cute personality» characters and good Hentai scenes.

I was really surprized at how much I enjoyed this anime. It’s definately the most softcore hentai I’ve seen, and I like that. It’s also the cutest hentai anime I’ve seen. It’s got a very different feel, look and story to it compared to other hentai/yuri animes.
Although it shows the girls completely naked, it doesn’t seem like fanservice to me. It seems more to show the beauty of the girls and their bodies, and the beauty of them being deeply in love and intimate with each other.
It’s a very sweet story, and I loved both characters very much despite being quite different. Their voices fit them

First things first: If you want hentai, or, in other word, hot lesbian sex, this is an instant 10 for you. Go watch it now.

And now for some serious look over things…

Story: what story? They are basically already together and have sex almost 85% of the time. The only sign of a plot is that one flashback, where Reo tells Mai how she feels. Then, approximately 20 econds later, Mai is seme ing Reo in some room, saying that she feels the same. Now I’m pretty sure that in the game she gave it much more thought than this… But here, she acted like some

Art: There were some disturbing moments here and there, hyper smooching, fast moving and etc. I can’t describe it properly, but in other words — the animation was not fluid. So, to save some time and drawing, some scenes, which should’ve been slow and beautiful turned into fast and disturbing ones. The character designs are great though, and Mai totally grew on me as a «design». You’ll most probably love it, unless you absolutely hate cute stuff but that’s really highly unlikely. I personally gave the animetion 8/10, since normally, I don’t give less than 7 for art, and this was definitely not a 7.

OST: Well, I don’t know if it’s just me… But I had this problem with Shoujo sect, too… /watch it by the way, it HAS a plot/ So, throughout the episode there’s almost non-stop piano music, totally unfitting piano music. I personally get disturbed by it and I lose concentration so it ruined for me the good moments. It might be different for you and you might manage to ignore it, or even like it /LOL/… It depends on the person. 1/10 for shitty piano. The voice actors did a great job with their characters and their moaning was all very cute. They deserve a 10 in my opinion. So overall for OST I’ll give 5/10.

Characters: Oh yes, they had some really long legs and nice tits, small and big — to satisfy every viewer… And their moaning, and their chemistry, and the sex!!! Oh, wait. Right, so there’s basically no character development at all. Don’t expect that. They suit each other and that’s pretty much about it. 4/10 because they really suit each other =D

Enjoyment: It’s not all about the sex!!!!

..
.
.
9/10 oh well, you can’t blame me. It’s 100% sure that you will like the sex too. The problem with SonoHana is not the ero-scenes themselves, it’s the backstory, the character development, the OST /there is NO hentai with good ost though, as far as I know, if you know one, then please do tell me about it… So I can’t judge them/, partially the art… But mostly the story. I’m sure that in the game everything made more sense and was even more enjoyable, because the player got to know the characters, their story, and their hardships. But here? We get the sex.

All in all, I recommend it. Boys, girls, cats, whatever. It may be plotless, but the sex is just too good. And like I said, if the sex is what you’re interested in — then you’re in for a ten. It’s really cute and it’s obvious that they love each other /though it’s not explained to us properly, their backstory, I mean/. It’s not some forced lesbo fuck, so it’s worth the watch.

The first thing you notice about this ero anime is how different the character designs look from your standard «hentai» fare. This is the only ero anime I’ve seen that uses the «moé» style. That is to say, the characters look similar to the heroines in popular anime such as K-on! or Clannad. This made a huge difference in the enjoyability of watching this for me because the portrayal of the female body in hentai normally comes off as either cheap looking or simply ridiculous. Mai and Reo are neither—in fact, they’re probably the only characters from a hentai that I would consider cute, and

Do you like girl-on-girl hentai? And you don’t mind censored p**sy? Then give this a chance, if you already haven’t.

I’ve always hated censored hentai. If I watch hentai, I want to see everything. But this is just so good-looking, so beautiful, so pleasant to watch, I didn’t even mind the pixilated vaginas… well, not much. I still would’ve rated it higher if it wasn’t censored.

Not only it looks very nice, it’s a very warm and touching story. Basically, we have (only) two characters: Mai and Reo, high school girls, and they’re not just lovers, no siree: they truly love each other.

The story, of course,

The scene where Mai gives water to the sick Reo by drinking it and then kissing her to «give» her water directly from her own mouth, is something I’ve never seen before, and I liked it.

Yes, this hentai is actually heartwarming. We definitely need more stuff like this, instead of all those tentacle rape and other sick fetishes. We have sweet kisses, gentle touches, stimulating, all ordinary stuff. I don’t need anything more.

After watching, it left me jealous. The kind of relationship that Mai and Reo have is the kind of relationship I want to have with my future girlfriend. So, yes, it was definitely worth watching. If only there wasn’t for that damned censorship… And/or if there was more episodes…

At first,i want to tell that i watched this anime for its characters’ development and not for its hentai-side. So,Imay not live up to hentai-lovers expectations out there

Story : 7
=======
i watched this anime because the synopsis interests me and it really live up to my expectations. I like how the characters develops and how they portray their cute moe-love for each other well. Just if there is no sex scene to be skipped i’ll give it a higher rate but well, since it is tag as hentai,i won’t hope for more

Art : 7
=======
this anime type art is «moe» art,it is cute with good colour choices. No

Sound : 5
=======
Seiyuu choice really fits each characters well. I don’t hear opening nor ending songs of it so I won’t give any comments for them

Character : 4
========
I like how main characters develop with each other, there is no particular problem in it. Just if there are more characters in the story with good development then I’ll definitely give higher rate, but since it is only one episode long,i won’t hope for more

Enjoyment : 5
=========
I quite enjoy this anime a bit for its characters’ development and art which is 10m long

Overall,it has good story and characters’ development to be enjoyed if You aren’t hentai-lovers like me and if You are hentai lovers then i’ll recommend it to you too because from what the comments and other review says,it looks like a good hentai anime

(Before I start I’m just going I only watched a version where all the really naughty stuff was pixelated, if someone can lead me to a totally uncensored version I’d be delighted)

Alright one thing yuri is good at is being cute. Yuri made porn cute! Not joking this is one of the most adorable things I have ever seen!

Story 9/10: From the start we have out two characters haveing hot, cute, yuri sex in the infirmary. For a hentai this story had legit feels, I really felt the love these girls had for each other even in this short 20 minutes.

Art 10/10: It’s just

Sound 10/10: I’d never thought I’d hear classical music in porn of any kind. Yet somehow it really works, it adds atmosphere and makes the feels even feels-ish!

Character 10/10: Mei and Reo, in the short time we saw these girls I really felt for there love and there relationship, it’s just beautiful. They really love each other and really care for each other, and that I feel turns what might have been just mindless porn into something more!

Enjoyment 10/10: I love yuri of all kinds, from subtext to smut and everything in between. So I enhpyed this greatly, it’s everything I want in a hentai.

Overall 10/10: Whoever says all porn is just mindless sex is… not entirely wrong. However this hentai might make them think a little differently about it. Anyway you like yuri, cute girls, and hentai that won’t scar you for life/give you nightmares? Then watch this, the cutest hentai ever!

Have you or a loved one negligently, carelessly or willfully traumatized in a hentai related incident? Well look no further because A Kiss for the Petals is the quintessentially wholesome yuri to help you forget the rape or torture your little weeblet heart has been exposed to. Yuri is the shining beacon of home beckoning home the lost and weary travellers who’ve ventured into the depths of hentai hell, where ugly bastards abound and the cries of the raped plead for salvation. It is essential for any hentai connoisseur to have a supply of yuri hentai to fall back on to in times of distress,

For me, this is the crown jewel of H-anime. I wouldn’t hesitate to say that even those who avoid vanilla (whoever those people may be) would still get a kick out of this show, as the only remotely bad thing about it is the fact that there was only one episode.

I am one of the first to admit that the ‘Sono Hanabira…’ eroge series is fairly average, but I will also say that this kind of thing translates really well into the anime realm, given the kind of garbage that was being animated in the 2010s and will likely continue being animated. They also

The sex in this show is light, fluffy and loving; the perfect yuri execution. The way Mai lusts for Reo and takes control of her shy girlfriend is enticing, and naturally, Reo when given time is also forthcoming with love-making. This OVA is slow-paced and in my view, it really gives you the most out of the 20 minute run time. The art could be slightly more detailed, but it’s still well drawn and the animation is perfectly fine. Overall, this is an absolutely essential watch for any H-anime fan, whether they like yuri or not.

Sorry for the biased review. I just felt like writing a review on my favourite hentai.

Recently I attended a coding boot camp and it was extremely difficult for me as I had to learn how to use 6 different coding languages within the month, with zero prior coding experience. However as challenging as the experience was for me, one thing which is harder to accomplish, is finding a hentai series without rape. Finding a hentai series which focuses on both the romantic and sexual aspects of a relationship is a rarity but shows like: Amakano, Junai Maniac, Koiito Kanebi, Pretty-/Lovely x Cation etc. fall into

Story – 7/10

Sono Hanabira has a simple but sweet plot. Reo is an adorable tsundere who just wants to make the person she loves fall in love with her. But because of her tsundere nature she has a hard time confessing her love towards Mai which leads to Mai believing that Reo’s hates her. Reo then calls Mai a baka and then proceeds to tell her how much she loves her. After being intimate in the infirmary Reo becomes sick and Mai skips school to tell Reo how much she loves her. As I said, really simple and cute. The story revolves around the relationship between Mai and Reo and it was an absolute joy to see them, making love and flirting with each other.

Art – 9/10

The art style of Sono Hanabira fits in perfectly with the atmosphere the OVA wants to portray. It aims to create a mature and romantic OVA and that is exactly what it accomplishes. Mai and Reo are both absolutely adorably drawn and with an astounding amount of detail. It contains some of the most realistic character designs within a hentai where every body part is anatomically accurate. Sex scenes are done in such a way that it is clearly visible that both of the characters love each other and want to have sex because of their love for each other.

Sound – 9/10

A relaxing classical score plays throughout the duration of the OVA which once again fits perfectly with the atmosphere. It creates this gentle and relaxing feeling regardless of it being a sex scene or a slice of life scene. Both of the voice actors portrayed the characters fantastically as everything from the love making to the dialogue between the characters were done with passion and further enhanced the OVA as a romantic hentai.

Character – 8/10

Unfortunately because of the single episode runtime we don’t get enough time seeing Mai and Reo flirting with each other. What exposition we do get within the story is minimal but enough to see how much these two love one another. The reason I gave character such a high score is, because of the chemistry between the two. Romance is one of the hardest genre’s to write as the author has to write two brilliant characters and then make the readers/viewers care about the relationship between the two of them. Sono Hanabira manages to accomplish this brilliantly and manages to incorporate the sexual aspect of a relationship into the story without feeling cheap.

Enjoyment – 10/10

Sono Hanabira is a hentai OVA which you can watch without anterior motives. At its core it is a simple romance revolving around two girls who love each other accompanied by a soothing soundtrack and cute visuals. Watching Mai and Reo confessing their love for one another and making love to one another is just way too cute for words.

Overall – 9/10

Sono Hanabira defines the vanilla genre and I am not ashamed to recommend it to anybody the age of consent. With a cute story and two characters who love one another dearly, Sono Hanabira is a perfect hentai for anyone who wants to watch a cute romance.

Thanks for taking the time to read my review!

Apr 29, 2023

The most outstanding feature of this anime is that it is a rare R18+ Yuri anime. The girls are cute and their love is erotic and sweet. It is highly recommended to watch this anime, for the adult Yuri lovers.

Also, this anime got a lot of precious resources and attention. The art and animation is far above average. In this genre whose budgets are strictly limited, the visual design of characters and the animation presented in this anime is a miracle. Meanwhile, the voice actresses’ performance is wonderful. Visual and vocal presentation of this anime could easily beat a lot of TV series which

Apr 21, 2012

Ah… I thoroughly enjoy the Sono Hanabira series of visual novels (as of present, there are ten mainline VNs, half of which are translated, and the spin-offf Hanahira!), sowhen I first noticed this, I knew I had to download it. Well, after about a full year and a half after the fact, it is time to impart my thoughts upon MAL.

First off, as a warning, this is a yuri hentai, so make sure this is what you are looking for. Also, the ratings reflect this, too.

First, I should handle the intrinisical elements:

STORY (6/10)

Now, being a hentai, story usually is not the main

CHARACTER (10/10)

I’ve played a good number of the Sono Hanabira VNs, and I can assure you, the characterization of both Mai and Reo has been kept intact. In fact, some may say that the characterization is actually more realistic, considering that some people would see Mai’s and Reo’s dialog in the VNs as a slight flanderization of their personality type. In case you’re wondering, Reo is somewhat shy, in addition to fitting most characteristics of a type A Tsundere. As for Mai, she’s still pretty much the pushy flirt that tries to get Reo more active in their surroundings. But what perhaps is the most important aspect is the relationship itself.

Sono Hanabira, unlike at least 90% of all hentai and eroge available, takes a lot of time and develops a deep relationship between characters through a sweet intimacy that, from what I’ve heard, can only be matched in yuri hentai by Shoujo Sect ~Innocent Lovers~. Yes, they may have a LOT of sex, but its painfully obvious they care for each other, as the intimate moments speak enough of such. Then again, the way the scene shots were sequenced help as well.

ART (10/10)

I will tell you right now, forget about the average art quality you would expect from most hentai, because the artwork for this one OVA will blow the rest out of the water (yes, even Milk Junkies and Striingendo). The color pallete goes excellently with the attitude the OVA is trying to bring, and the line detail is enough to compete with stuff by KyoAni. Additionally, whoever directed screenplay for this OVA deserves a gold medal, because the way the screens created progression, it cut down on unnecessary fanservice and intensifies the intimacy between Mai and Reo, be it cuddling or making sure they are both equally satisfied with each other. In fact, I dare someone to find a hentai that does better.

SOUND (10/10)

One of the things that I like to see is when people keeps things simplistic and beautiful. The soundtrack, being comprised of only a few simple piano pieces, pulls off that task admirably well. I may like a complicated soundtrack for stuff like K-ON!, but leaving a background piano enhances the atmosphere being drawn up by the art and action. As for the seiyuu… I don’t feel I can make a good judgment on such.

If you want something different from your every-day, run-of-the-mill, conquer them all hentai, this is most likely your ticket. The only taste that will be left in your mouth is a light sweetness, so if you’re into that kind of feeling, enjoy.

Stumble upon this on pure coincidence while updating MAL and decided to watch it, this’s a pretty soft, sweet and romantic hentai, if you’re expecting rape, bondage or any hardcore stuff you’ll be disappointed. This’s yuri, so no male character, personally I prefer this kind of hentai rather than hardcore stuff because it’s has the sweet and romantic feelings to it.

The story and art is very good, there’s no repetitive scene at all. I like the deredere like character, lol. There aren’t many H scene, it’s balanced by other romantic scene, there aren’t any overused moan or scream.

Yeah yeah my review is short.
Anyway, if

Sono Hana — The sentimental yuri.

Okay, so anyone who has read more than one of my reviews know that I’m always in the search of the «Perfect Yuri.» Something that combines character growth, a realistic pre-relationship, realistic dating phase, and realistic yuri-scenes that show both emotion and mutual satisfaction for the girls involved, not the sweaty male viewer fapping as he watches.

I’m not going to pretend that Sono Hana hits that mark, but it does some things really right.

Story: 5

This is porn. Even though it’s light porn, it’s still porn. There is no story other than about 5 minutes of flashback that implies

Art: 9

The best hentai character art I’ve seen in awhile. The lines are good and dark and the color pallet is suited well to the characters. There’s no «sliding screens» of a scrunchy hentai face with a moan while they push a picture up and down. Every second is animated, and its done well.

Sound: 7

Standard fair. Both girls are voiced well. Music is average. There’s a typical flowy water sound during all the sex, which is kind of comical when you realize it’s there.

Characters: 8

Somehow, they gave both girls really strong personalities in 25 minutes of burying their faces in each others muffs and boobs. You get a strong sense of their relationship, who fills what role, and how much they care. It sounds tacky, but you really get the sense that these two girls are in love, even high school love specifically.

Further, the girls seem to want to please each other, not provide a show for the invisible audience. That really impressed me, which is something missing from a lot of Yuri. Sakura Trick, for example, failed at this. I say it a lot, but this is why we need more Yuri, for even the Yuri Ai producers to watch this and say, «This shit right there, that’s good Yuri. We need to at least make sure our girls seem this much in it for each other.»

Enjoyment: 8

It was good. Didn’t even fap. Watched for the glow between the girls and was not disappointed.

Overall: 7

It’s still just porn, even really sweet and sensual porn. If this had been episode 7 or 8 of a series dedicated to these girls and their relationship, it would be «Best Yuri.»

Have you heard of… Perfection?

«Sono Hanabira ni Kuchizuke wo: Anata to Koibito Tsunagi» is a rare gem embedded in the middle of a sea of generic hentai. While most works in the genre focus solely on soulless, empty sex, this OVA delivers something that few even attempt: genuine love, overwhelming sweetness, and an emotional connection so pure it almost feels surreal.

Watching this hentai is like diving into a pool of cotton candy under a pink sky. It’s as adorable as seeing two kittens sleeping curled up together in a warm basket during winter. Every smile, every touch between Mai and Reo is filled with so

The animation may be simple, but the care put into the characters’ expressions and the softness of their gestures show a love that many high-budget titles have never managed to convey. The soundtrack, delicate and enchanting, is like a gentle breeze on a spring day — it perfectly accompanies every scene without ever stealing focus from what truly matters: the feeling.

Here, romance isn’t just a backdrop for eroticism; the eroticism is actually a natural consequence of the absurd love the two share. It’s like watching flowers bloom in slow motion — each petal revealing affection, respect, and sincere desire.

In short, «Sono Hanabira» isn’t just «good,» it’s a gift for those seeking something beyond mindless vulgarity. It’s a reminder that true love can be portrayed in any genre, even in hentai. A sweet, adorable, and perfect work that shines like a diamond in an endless landfill.

Rating: 10/10. And if I could give more, I would.

SonoHana is one of the better known yuri titles in the eroge world, and the fan translation from back in February has introduced me to the first game in the long-running series. The sole franchise of the company Fuguriya, SonoHana‘s most distinctive trait is its idealized portrayal of love and sex in the male-targeted yuri tradition. Some would call it a smut, others would call it a pure love story that’s impure in all the right places. Both are somewhat right. What I do know is that the game isn’t a bad way to spend $20 and ~5 hours.

First off, it’s worth mentioning that this game – this entire series, in fact – is illustrated by Peko, the wonderful artist who brought us the original designs in the recent Mayoi Neko Overrun anime. Despite the fact that Fuguriya is listed as a doujin circle and their games are sold on DLsite, both the artist and the writer are listed as having contributed to commercial games prior to the release of the first SonoHana installment. Shinichirou Sano is the scenarist, as his most notable title outside of the series appears to be Tapestry by light (incidentally, this game was also written by Sano and drawn by Peko, and it looks decent on the surface). Unfortunately, I haven’t played his other games so I can’t comment on his writing style.

Anyway, despite its gorgeous art, SonoHana is definitely not a high-budget commercial game. You can’t tell by looking at the screenshots, but the paper dolls are somewhat lacking in expressions, and some scenes give off that amateur feel where the text hardly matches the visuals. The music is also extremely forgettable though I have no idea who composed it. Of course, what the game lacks in those regards it more than makes up for visually. Peko’s style is extremely appealing to me as a bishoujo fan, and there’s nothing lacking about the sprites or the event CGs. The entire game is, for lack of a better word, delicious. I’d like to comment on the boxart, but really, it speaks for itself.

One thing that surprised me was the voice acting. SonoHana feels like anything but doujin when you hear the voice actresses alongside the onscreen visuals. I believe only one of the two seiyuu have worked on a wide variety of eroge, but there’s no doubt that the performance feels professional. The dialogue is also quite well written, which leads to perhaps the most important aspect of the game: the characters.

It should be obvious by now that SonoHana has no plot – two girls meet, yada yada yada, they end up intertwined in each other’s slender white arms – but the characters are amusing. Nanami, the protagonist, is the energetic yet easily flustered type who falls for her onee-sama at first sight, yet she has a head on her shoulders and usually plays the tsukkomi role. Yuuna is somewhat like the air-headed ara-ara~ older sister type, and she treats Nanami almost like how Shizuma treats Nagisa in Strawberry Panic (in other words, like a stuffed animal). Luckily Nanami is usually occasionally able to keep her cool, and the interaction between them ranges from cute to hilarious. The dynamic between them is a ton of fun, and it makes for a great accompaniment to a story that isn’t serious or particularly romantic to begin with.

This is basically the only CG I can post here.

To sum it up in a sentence, SonoHana‘s greatest success is its ability to have fun and do what it does best. It’s definitely a nukige; the majority of the CGs aren’t safe enough for me to post here, and the ratio of ero scenes to normal dialogue is around 1:1. It’s very, very difficult to not joke about the literal translation of the title – “Kissing the Petals”, if you know what I mean. Still, the game proves to be more than just hollow gratification. Without bogging themselves down with forced drama, the characters are able to act freely and get a laugh or a d’aww out of the reader while showcasing Peko’s excellent designs and living out the yuri fantasy in the most romanticized way possible. It takes a lot for a nukige to feel pure.

In conclusion, give the game a shot if you’re into yuri and don’t demand a plot out of every eroge you play. It’s probably the only well-known yuri visual novel available in English at the moment, and it certainly lives up to its name.

A Kiss for the Petals (その花びらにくちづけを Sono Hanabira ni Kuchizuke o?) is an adult yuri visual novel series created by Fuguriya and illustrated by Peko. Sono Hanabira started with its first visual novel, ‘A Kiss for The Petals’ in November 25th 2006, featuring its first yuri couple, Nanami Oda and Yuuna Matsubara. Due to its popularity, it later expanded into different forms of media such as: more visual novels, light novels, radio shows, CD’s and even an OVA adaptation. In the visual novel it focuses on a single couple for each couple’s respective game. Usually a couple has at least 2 visual novels created for it.

Sono Hanabira ni Kuchizuke o is set in a high school called ‘St Michael’s Academy for Girls’, which is a school for rich and pampered young ladies. The game explores romance between various girls in the Academy.

Anime: Sono Hanabira ni Kuchizuke wo: Anata to Koibito Tsunagi

The original video animation’s artwork.
(Mai is on the left and Reo is on the right.)

Episode Count: 1 (OVA)

Year: 2010

Genre: Yuri, Hentai, Romance

You can watch it at: Dailymotion

Summary: The OVA, original video animation, is based of the visual novel series, Sono Hanabira, where it follows the romance between Mai Sawaguchi and Reo Kawamura. The story focuses on Reo being sick in bed and Mai helping Reo get better. It shows the strong bond between the two girls through emotion and physical moments of the girl’s lives.

Recommendation:

As stated before in the genre, this OVA is a hentai. Viewers under the age of eighteen should be warned. This is a good anime if you want a little romance, a twinge of humor, and a lot of sex between two girls that love each other. This would not be the anime to watch if you want just yuri romance. I personally enjoyed this animation because I played the visual novels and liked this couple in particular. They are adorable together, and this OVA did not disappoint in keeping the characters true to the visual novels.

SPOILERS AFTER THIS POINT

Animation: 7/10

The animation of this OVA is actually well done. It is not as good as normal anime, but it is a lot better than most hentai videos. The animators put a lot of care into the scene where Mai chases Reo into the open space where Reo confesses her love. Even the animation for the sex scenes are well done too. Overall the animation of this OVA was well done for a hentai, but below average for an anime.

Characters: 7.5/10

The two characters Reo and Mai do not get explained in this animation really. I might be a bit biased on this rating because I have played the visual novel and understand the characters in that sense. Although a lot about the characters is not explained, the audience can see that Reo and Mai have more of a connection that just sex. Mai and Reo care able each other, but like most teenagers, they also find it hard to stop the hormones coursing through their veins.

Main Characters:

Mai Sawaguchi:

Mai is seen as a kind girl friend to Reo as she attempts to help Reo get better from her cold. Although Reo is the one who confesses first, Mai is usually seen as the character that starts the sexual activity between these two. Mai likes to tease Reo because she knows that Reo is not always honest with herself, but she still is loving and caring towards Reo when it is needed. She seems to be the more dominate one in the relationship, and she seems to be the one that keeps the relationship steady.

Reo Kawamura:

Reo is a tsundere. She often is not honest about her feelings, but Mai usually sees through her act. It is always easy to tell when Reo is being honest because there is a cute blush on her face. Although Reo is not always honest, when she sets her mind to do something she pulls through. This is seen as Reo confesses her feelings to Mai for the first time. Reo is easily embarrassed by Mai’s forward actions, but she usually ends up enjoying them in the end too. Reo is a cute tsundere character and the perfect fit for her counterpart.

Warning: The character descriptions will only hold information about these two characters from the OVA. I will probably write something about the visual novels at a later time in which I will talk about the characters more indepthly there.

Plot: 2/10

As mentioned before, most of this video is just sex scenes. The plot would be Mai coming over to help Reo but in the end the two end up having sex. It is cute in the end where Mai ends up sick in bed and Reo comes over to help Mai with her cold.

Opening/Ending: 3/10

There was no opening song to this animation. The ending song is a soft piano solo. It was cute and fit the soft romantic mood at the end of the OVA, but it was nothing special.

How well the anime fits the main genre(s) (Yuri/Hentai): 10/10

The anime was a decent yuri hentai. It defiantly captured the romance between the two girl characters and had plenty of nicely animated sex to make it a nice hentai too.

Overall Opinion: 29.5/50

I personally enjoyed this OVA because of the visual novels. It really brought the characters to life and added pleasant cute moments between the two. I would not suggest this OVA for just anyone to watch. It doesn’t really have anything but sex in it. There would be no meaning to someone who hasn’t play the visual novels, unless they knew the couple prior. It doesn’t have enough yuri romance to really appease a yuri lover either. This is a nice OVA for people who either enjoy yuri sex or people who enjoy the Sono Hanabira visual novels because no one can get enough of these two characters.

7/365

Since I’m a reader of Listless Ink, I snapped at the chance to watch this OVA the moment subs came out, despite having no prior knowledge of the plot or game whatsoever. And I’m happy to say that I’m enthralled.

( Warning : Horribly censored images ahead, probably not for the young?)

As you know, I’m a plot-orientated person. I love plot. I really love plot. So you’d probably guess that for a sh0w like Sono Hanabira ni Kuchizuke wo : Anata to Koibito, I’d dislike that. The show was about two lovers, Mai and Reo. One day, Reo falls sick so Mai goes over to her house to take care of her. Of course, we’re rewarded with flashbacks but we still don’t get any part of the world they live in. So do I dislike the show?

Wrong – I loved it.

There’s a certain beauty in yuri that can’t really be described in words. Especially in this OVA, when they describe Mai and Reo’s relationship, I was enthralled and in a trance. I didn’t mind its lack of plot- who’s looking for ‘plot’ anymore? I felt like a nosebleed was coming on the entire episode. Through 20 minutes, their love for each other was sufficiently portrayed. Other than the sex scenes, their interactions displayed this as well.

Mai offering to bathe Reo , leaving school just to take care of her and falling sick as a result, with Reo coming to take care of her instead and especially the confession scene. To quote Yi:

“The flashback confession is also such a kyaa~ moment!”

Literally. I felt like making some cutesy, awkward noise because it was all so beautiful – and I’m a guy!

because I’m from Singapore, I have a compulsion to obsessively censor everything.

The animation was fluid and the scenes well planned out. Unlike your usual H-series, where everything is brutally sexualized and every female’s a slut or every male’s some kind of rapist or some other sexual perversion like that, this OVA doesn’t do that kind of thing. It’s all very gentle and sensual, with the two lovers constantly complimenting each other and both in their own lover’s paradise. Complementing this is the spectacular animation, if I do say so myself. The body physics were all correct, but that’s not the point I’m trying to make.

Their expressions were dynamic, their bodies well, perfect and the art is all pretty well done, perhaps save that birdseye view of Reo’s room. Nevertheless, this complemented their scenes, which made me very, very happy indeed.

Not to mention that their relationship isn’t that of some poorly thought up show, where Person A just has sex with Person B and that equates to love. The two characters have dynamic personalities of their own.

Within 20 minutes, they have their own distinct personality, something which should be commended. Rei is played out to love Mai’s presence, just as how she seems to dislike being alone, seen by how she holds Mai back when she tries to leave. She’s wonderfully insecure, tsundere if you will, but she wants Mai’s love. Mai , of course, willingly obliges. Mai could be said to be the Butch-like girl in their relationship, oozing with what could be said to pushy confidence, teasing Reo like a little child. She cares about her a lot, often taking the initiative to help her, as well as often getting Reo into the mood for sex- and of course, her leading it. She gives Reo confidence, she gives Reo meaning, and she’s great as a character.

The entire show had an air of refined elegance about it.

Everything felt so pristine; so pure and wonderful.

When they get intimate, it’s not just about pleasure, it’s about sentiment. About their love for each other, and not lust.

Fingers crossed for another episode.
